The Project Scope

Kaitlyn Parker had a clear vision for Copy Uncorked from the very beginning. During our initial conversation, she told me the story about visiting France with her husband and having a moment of revelation when she connected the process of winemaking with crafting compelling sales copy. At the time, she had been working within the industry as both a freelancer and an in-agency copywriter, but had the idea for creating a brand that made high-conversion sales copy accessible to small business owners.

With this brand identity, we wanted to implement a conversational tone that showcased her personality and tailored approach, while also establishing Copy Uncorked as an elevated, all-inclusive agency that instantly dispels the fear most non-writers have around copywriting. Our strategy was to reach a market that included more creative service providers, online educators, and digital shops by relating copywriting to the process of making wine—from messy to technical, but with a sophisticated end result.

The Challenge

       ot only did we design a brand identity for her agency, but we also designed the visual concept for two of her signature courses. With those courses, we wanted to extend the story of the vineyard and continue to build her brand foundation through the theme of winemaking. With custom brand illustrations, cohesive digital products, sharp launch materials, and a visually refined website, Copy Uncorked has maintained a strong brand story from start to finish.

The biggest challenge during this process was to keep the brand feeling elevated while we continued to lean further into a theme. It would have been easy to fall into a look that felt overly forced and obvious, but by maintaining clear visual standards and a paired down academic palette, we were able to use the wine theme as a storytelling device without the brand feeling cheap or cheesy. The end result? A look that continues to attract attention and gain more recognition in the online space year-over-year.

Our inspiration for the visual brand came from the vision of golden hour on a vineyard, but also included a muted, academic aesthetic that was associated with writing & literature. We wanted the brand to feel warm and comfortable for clients who previously had a bad association with trying to write for their brand, but allow room for an experience that felt high-end and luxurious. 

The end result was a timeless brand that blended the sophistication of wine tasting with personable organic details (like those brand illustrations!)

The logotype showcases a U being uncorked by the copy, and the monogram uses the shape of the U to mimic a wine glass, available in 3 colors - cab, blanc, and rosé. The warmth of the cab and rosé balance the neutrality of the terrace and blanc tones, but have depth when paired with sage or vine. Together, the palette is fresh and neutral, with pops of color to lead the eye.

Since launching, Kaitlyn has become a TONIC affiliate partner, been featured on national blogs and podcasts, worked with dozens of small businesses, and successfully launched 3 breakthrough digital programs. 

Not only has Copy Uncorked effectively reached and become recognizable in the market of creative entrepreneurs, but has grown to become a micro-agency of 7 and has now worked with over 200 clients since its inception. From done-for-you client services to done-with-you educational courses, the Copy Uncorked impact has far exceeded what Kaitlyn initially thought was possible with her brand in 2019, and we can’t wait to see where she, and the CU brand, go next!
