Neighbor’s Table is in the business of community-building through neighborhood gatherings (and most specifically, table making.) By making and selling tables big enough for a crowd, the mission for Neighbor’s Table is to gather a diverse community in one place for the unifying purpose of connection and love. These tables are not just hand-crafted works of art made by hand, but acts of service to love people well.
Design Solution / Brand Message
Neighbor’s Table isn’t a new idea, it’s actually rather simple. An invitation was given over 2000 years ago, and it’s a champion for returning to the purest sense of hospitality. Love your neighbor. The aesthetic story of Neighbor’s Table is one of the wind-swept French countryside, of fresh bread and worn-in chambray, of soft linens and family recipes. The brand is both tailored and approachable, refined and un-fussy. It’s the feeling of that kitchen table you return to time again and look forward to every time.
Neighbor’s Table is for the community minded individual with a bit of extra income they desire to invest in others. It’s for those who see the true value in the experience which surpasses the table alone. This audience buys into the mission of Neighbor’s Table and carries out the mindset of community first long after the table is personally delivered to their doorstep.
When crafting the Neighbor’s Table logo, we were inspired by the symbolism of the olive branch. Historically and culturally, and olive branch is extended as a sign of peace and God’s providence. We also saw room for associating the iconic branch with hospitality and abundance.
Faded chambray blue and rich olive leaves were the inspiration for the color palette. We wanted the brand to feel both soft and stable, both free and refined.
The type palette pairs the structure of a classic san serif with the modernity of hand-lettering for a refreshingly timeless look.
In branding Neighbor’s Table for its long-awaited reveal, Sarah worked to create products that would improve the overall gathering experience - from Table Tokens encouraging guests to become involved in serving each other, to hand carved Dough Bowls for display of bread bread or your favorite home decor. These products would allow Sarah to give a wider audience a chance to participate in the mission of Neighbor’s Table, even if the hand-crafted table was out of reach.
Sarah had long established a high-traffic cover page while she patiently built the content for the site. This cover page resulted in thousands of email subscribers, and we wanted to create a digital experience that would convert at a similar rate, while really pulling those viewers into the story and mission of the table. Through the use of video and strong copywriting, the final site truly demonstrates the impact and potential of Neighbor’s Table.
