Karissa Wright had been doing the work to build her brand before we received her initial inquiry at the agency. As a current student of The Brand Edit®, she’d moved through the curriculum confidently until she hit Chapter Four. Once it came down to determining fonts, developing the logo, and curating color palettes, she felt herself reaching the edge of what she could execute alone, especially knowing she wanted to enter the luxury wedding market.
During our initial conversation, she told me she wanted a logo set that felt timeless but had real character, something to set her apart in a wedding photography landscape. The basic signature logo wasn’t going to cut it, and she trusted us to understand exactly what she meant with her creative inspiration and moodboard.
With this project, our goal was to honor the foundation Karissa had already built through The Brand Edit® while taking the vision somewhere she couldn’t quite see on her own yet. We revisited her original brand guide with fresh eyes—filling in the gaps, defining the language, and translating her instincts into a cohesive logo suite that gives her brand both lasting elegance and a point of view all its own.
Custom Brand Identity
The biggest challenge with Karissa’s project came from an assumption we made early on. Because Karissa had done such thorough work through The Brand Edit, we initially thought we could skip our creative research phase and move directly into design—trusting that her existing brand guide gave us everything we needed to translate her vision into an identity. What we quickly realized was that no matter how strong a client’s foundation is, our methodology exists for a reason. Every step of our process plays a role in helping us confidently interpret a brand, and skipping one leaves a gap that’s hard to close later on. So we course-corrected. We went back to the beginning and revisited her original creative brief, this time layering in our own perspective and translating her foundation into the language we use to build identities from the ground up. That recalibration turned out to be one of the most important parts of the project—not just for Karissa, but for us as an agency. The moment we put our spin on the brief, the rest of the project moved seamlessly. The concepts clicked into place, we required very few revisions, and the final logo suite reflected a level of clarity that wouldn’t have been possible without that early reset. It was a learning opportunity that reinforced something we now hold as a non-negotiable: every aspect of our methodology matters, every time.

Our inspiration for Karissa’s visual brand came from the meeting point of European romanticism and California warmth. We were inspired by the soft, golden quality of light that makes a moment feel like a cinematic still from a film. We wanted the brand to evoke presence rather than performance, leaning into emotional truth, gentle movement, and refined beauty. For a wedding photographer whose work prioritizes connection first, the identity needed to mirror that same restraint—editorial in its polish, but intimate in its feeling.
The end result is a brand that feels luminous, calm, and unmistakably human, blending the sophistication of an heirloom aesthetic with the warmth and accessibility of someone you’d actually want documenting one of the most personal days of your life. The logo suite carries a timeless sensibility through considered letterforms and quiet detailing, while the palette balances soft, sun-washed romantic neutrals with deeper, whimsical color tones. The result was a palette that felt like late afternoon light spilling across linen, or the first quiet moment after a ceremony ends. Together, the identity communicates emotional safety, quiet confidence, and the timeless sincerity that defines Karissa’s work behind the lens.

The logo suite is inspired by the meeting point of European romanticism and California warmth — two influences that define the way Karissa sees and shoots. Karissa’s work prioritizes emotional truth and natural light over performance and excess, so we wanted the visual brand to reflect that same restraint: elegant without being precious, refined without losing soul. We leaned into considered letterforms, gentle proportions, and whimsical detailing to create a logo set that feels timeless but carries genuine character, which is exactly what Karissa came to us for.
The signature mark gives her brand the heirloom quality she was after, while the supporting marks and palette extend the story across every touchpoint, from inquiry to final gallery delivery. We worked carefully to strip away anything that felt expected or trend-driven, because the wedding photography space is saturated with brands that blur together, and Karissa’s deserved to stand on its own. The end result is an identity that feels luminous, intentional, and unmistakably hers, built to grow alongside her as her work continues to evolve. Coming full circle from her Brand Edit foundation to a fully realized identity was a meaningful project for our team, and one that reinforced just how powerful it is when a student’s vision meets our methodology in full. This is a launch we’re especially proud to share.
